Boldenone is an anabolic steroid notable for the effects it causes on the user’s physique, especially regarding their hormonal balance in estrogen levels. Estrogen seems to reduce with the combination of Boldenone and testosterone, and this causes a lot of curiosity.

The Influence of Boldenone on Estrogen Levels

Competition with Aromatase

Aromatase is the enzyme that causes a transformation of androgens such as testosterone to estrogens. Boldenone, like testosterone, is a substrate of the aromatase enzyme.

Boldenone has reduced chances of aromatization due to its chemical structure, especially the double bond at the first and second carbon atoms. Since Boldenone and testosterone are used together, Boldenone will always compete for aromatase activity.

This competition results in a lower rate at which testosterone gets transformed into estrogen, and consequently, a lowered overall estrogen level.

Aromatization of Boldenone is Highly Limited

Boldenone’s conversion to estrogen is extremely poor and, therefore, it is highly unlikely for it to attain an aromatic spin system. While it can undergo some form of aromatization, the process is much more tedious than that of testosterone.

When Boldenone is utilized, the qualifying criteria change whereby the amount of testosterone that can be aromatized gets drastically reduced, leading to less estrogen being synthesized.

The role of Boldenone metabolites is very specific. A few metabolites of Boldenone can bind to specific estrogen receptors and even antagonize them. This process reduces the activity of pre-existing estrogens and hints at a lowered level of them.

Differences Between Boldenone and Aromatase Inhibitors

Correctly, Boldenone does not act as an aromatase inhibitor. Any aromatase inhibitors such as exemestane or anastrozole work like this:

Action: Instead of Boldenone which is known to compete with the testosterone for attachment on the aromatase enzyme, aromatase inhibitors work by attaching themselves onto the enzyme and stopping any conversions of androgens being turned into estrogens.

Classification of the Inhibitors

  • Steroid Aromatase Inhibitor (Exemestane): This type of inhibitor will bind to aromatase and there is no way of aromatase releasing them. The enzyme is now permanently switched off;
  • Non-Steroidal Aromatase Inhibitors such as Anastrozole and Letrozole: These can deactivate the catalytic part of aromatase, but only for a limited time and may switch it back on by removing the inhibitor.

But Boldenone is different. It behaves like a competitive substrate and interferes with the rate of the reaction, but does not switch noses off the enzyme.

How Boldenone Works

Like Boldenone helps to describe its role the same way we put it in, Estrogen receptors have modulators which are partially active. These are Tamoxifen and other similar substances where the receptor is occupied and so even stronger estrogens cannot do what they normally do.

For example, Boldenone inhibits the aromatase enzyme while simultaneously increasing the estrogen converting testosterone during the conversion of testosterone to estrogen.

Partial Receptor Agonists: In opioid therapy, medications like buprenorphine bind to receptors and get activated partially while opposing more potent agonists.

Boldenone can also bind to estrogen, but its aromatization is limited which leads to decreased estrogen production.

Consequences of Boldenone’s Estrogen Derivatives

Boldenone having peripheral agonistic activity can lead to the following outcomes cloaked as advantages:

Potential Advantages

  • Elimination of water retention and kyphosis, which are the adverse side effects of gynecology;
  • Muscle definition is easier with the physique being more sculpted.

Potential Disadvantages

  • Estrogen with the exception of previously stated, may bring bone density problems in the long term;
  • Hypoestrogenism can result in discomfort in joints, mood disturbances and diminished sexual drive;
  • For longer lasting results, using estrogen should be monitored alongside bone health measures to make sure the person doesn’t come close to osteoporosis.

In summary, Boldenone has certain interactions with the arachidonic enzyme which in result leads to fine tuned alterations of the levels of estrogen.

In competition with testosterone boldenone inhibits the aromatization of estrogens meaning estrogen production is indirectly inhibited. This is most important to know for athletes who would decide to add it into their anabolic system.
